Incorrect Information Regarding Driven Clutch Pulley Maintenance Intervals - Potential Debris Detaching

Dear Can-Am® Vehicle Owner,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the applicable laws. BRP has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some vehicles and is conducting a safety recall.

Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.

What is the potential problem?

The Operator’s Guide “Maintenance Schedule” section contains incorrect information regarding driven clutch pulley maintenance intervals. Lack of proper maintenance of the clutch may lead to clutch failure, including fragments to be ejected from the vehicle. In some situations, this could result in serious injuries.

Which models are involved?

Model Year 2022 and 2023 Can-Am Commander series, Defender series, Maverick Trail series and Traxter series equipped with an HD7 or 700 engines.

What will BRP do?

BRP is issuing revised maintenance schedules information. The changes are:

(1) SEVERE DUTY - precision that this duty includes Commercial/Work & Rental use.

(2) Slide shoes in the driven pulley need to be REPLACED:

  • Every 3000 km (1900 mi) (Schedule A) if SEVERE DUTY or DEEP MUD/WATER USE

  • Every 6000 km (3700 mi) (Schedule B) if REGULAR DUTY

What should YOU do?

We are providing you with a Maintenance Schedule Booklet containing the revised maintenance schedules, to be kept with the Operator’s Guide. This booklet is sent with this letter. It replaces the maintenance schedule information in your Operator’s Guide.

The booklet language version was chosen following your language selection in our system. Update schedules are available electronically in other languages (https://www.operatorsguides.brp.com/) in the Operator’s Guides.

If you leased this vehicle:

  • Send a copy of this letter to the lessee and the Maintenance Schedule Booklet within ten working days after the day you received this letter.

  • Do the same with any future letters about this safety recall.
