Possible Loss of Control - Front Lower Ball Joint May Detach

Dear Can-Am® Owner,

BRP has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain 2021 ATVs and is conducting a safety recall.

Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.

What is the potential problem?

The front lower ball joint may not have been properly installed into the steering knuckle.

In some situations, the steering knuckle could detach from the lower arm, resulting in a loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury or death.

 

Which models are involved?

Certain serial numbers of model year 2021 Outlander™ and Renegade™ vehicles.

What will BRP do?

BRP will repair your vehicle free of charge. The corrective action involves an inspection of the front lower ball joint assembly.  This service should take less than one hour. 

What should you do?

BRP recommends to avoid driving your vehicle, but if you must move it, be sure to ride below 15 km/h (10 mph) on a smooth surface.

Please contact your authorized BRP Can-Am Off-Road dealer to schedule an appointment to have the safety recall performed on your vehicle.

The presence of aftermarket modifications will not prevent you from receiving this service at no cost. The presence of these modifications, while the service is being completed, will not void any existing warranty or service contract.



What to do if you feel you have received this notice by mistake?

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this vehicle or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.

If you leased this vehicle, you shall send the lessee a copy of this notice and any subsequent notice within 10 working days after the day on which the notice is received.
