Re: Possible Rear Wheel Loss

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act. BRP has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on a limited quantity of 2021 ATV’s and is conducting a safety recall.
Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.
What is the potential problem?
The rear wheel axle nuts may not have been installed properly (torque application and installation of the cotter pin). In some situations, this could result in a wheel loss, increasing the risk of an accident causing injury or death.
Which models are involved?
A limited quantity of model year 2021 Outlander™ and Renegade™ vehicles.
What will BRP do?
BRP will repair your vehicle free of charge. The corrective action involves an inspection of the torque on the rear wheel axle nuts and reinstallation of the cotter pins. This service should take less than one hour.
What should you do?
Stop using your ATV immediately and contact your authorized BRP Can-Am Off-Road dealer to schedule an appointment to have the safety recall performed on your vehicle.
What if you need to move your vehicle?
If you need to move the vehicle, you must first check the presence of the cotter pin on each rear wheel.
- Remove the wheel center cap with a flat screwdriver.
- Check the presence of the cotter pin.
Cotter pins installed: Vehicle can be driven under 6 mph to gain access to your trailer to allow transportation to your dealer.
Cotter pins NOT installed: Do not drive the vehicle and bring it to your dealership.
