Dear Can-Am® ATV Dealer / Distributor,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act, the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, and other applicable laws.

What is the reason for this notice?
In cooperation with Transport Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. ("BRP") are conducting a voluntary recall of certain 2010 OutlanderTM and RenegadeTM ATV models equipped with DPS as listed in the attached Safety Campaign Bulletin.

What is the potential problem?
An electrical short circuit to ground of the DPS may occur. This can cause your vehicle to suddenly steer left on its own and in some situations, the operator could lose control of the vehicle. This may cause serious injuries or even death.

What will BRP do?
BRP has already sent by mail a Safety Recall Notice to all known registered owners of these vehicles. This letter urges the owners to contact their authorized BRP Can-Am ATV dealer to have their vehicle repaired. BRP also posted this notice and attached Safety Campaign Bulletin on its BOSSWeb dealer website ( and on its public website (

What should you do?
Contact all of your customers who have purchased this product. You must request that they immediately stop using their ATV. The new DPS software will be available in the coming days.

If your customer wishes to use his ATV before you could repair it, ask your customer to disable its DPS by removing the DPS electrical fuse. The procedure is included in the letter he has received.  If the customer is not at ease with this procedure, make an appointment with your customer to perform the procedure, as described in the attached Safety Campaign Bulletin.
