    December 20, 2016

As you may have heard, a safety campaign on some 2016 Can-Am Defender vehicles was released in Canada and other countries meant to address an issue with a misleading park position displayed in instrument cluster. On certain 2016 Can-Am Defender Side-by-Side vehicles, the instrument cluster may display the gearbox position “P” even though the gearbox is not mechanically engaged in the park position.

BRP is working with the relevant authority in the United States to get the solution to this issue released as soon as possible. The dealer will perform this work at no charge to you.

Until this safety campaign has been performed on your vehicle, BRP recommends that your rock the vehicle forward and backwards whenever “PARK” is selected to ensure that “PARK” is mechanically engaged in the transmission regardless of the transmission position displayed in the cluster.

To confirm that your VIN (Vehicle identification Number) is affected, contact your authorized Can-Am side-by-side dealer or BRP at 1-888-272-9222 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern time 7 days a week.
