Re: Possible Steering Lock - Rack and Pinion Assembly

This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act. BRP has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain side-by-side models and is conducting a safety recall.
Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.
Which models are involved?
Certain serial numbers of model year 2017 Can-Am Maverick X3TM.
What is the potential problem?
On certain 2017 Can-Am Maverick X3 vehicles, the steering rack and pinion assembly may have been manufactured by our supplier with an improper amount of grease. In some circumstances, this situation may result in steering lock which could lead to injury or even death.
To confirm that your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is affected, contact your authorized Can-Am Off-Road dealer or BRP at 1-888-272-9222 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern time 7 days a week.
What should you do?
Contact your authorized BRP Can-Am side-by-side dealer and schedule an appointment to have your vehicle repaired.
The solution consists of replacing the rack and pinion assembly. This repair should take approximately 2 hours to complete. The dealer will perform this work at no charge to you.
What should you do until your vehicle is repaired?
BRP recommends that you avoid driving your vehicle until the repair is performed.
Note that the presence of aftermarket modifications will not prevent you from receiving the repair at no cost. The presence of these modifications during the repair will not affect any existing warranty or service contract.
What should you do if you feel this notice is an error?
This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this vehicle or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.
