Can-Am® Spyder RT – Emergency Braking Situation: Possible Sudden Loss of Brake (TC-2020-133)

Dear Can-Am On-Road owner,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person. BRP is conducting a safety recall on the 2020 Can-Am Spyder RT.

Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.

What is the potential problem?

In emergency braking situations, the support which holds the brake mechanism could break  and cause a total loss of braking capacity. This may increase the risk of a crash.

Which models are involved?

Specific serial numbers of model year 2020 Can-Am Spyder RT.

What will BRP do?

BRP will repair your vehicle free of charge. This service should take approximately 1 hour.

What should you do?

  • Contact your authorized BRP Can-Am On-Road dealer and schedule an appointment to have the safety recall performed on your vehicle.

  • If you continue to ride your vehicle, be aware that in the event of an emergency braking situation you may lose all braking capacity. We encourage you to have your vehicle updated promptly.

Although your unit may have aftermarket modifications, you can still receive this service free of charge. The presence of these modifications, while the service is being completed, will not void any existing warranty or service contract.
