LEARN MORE ABOUT ATV'S FOR KIDS
Parents should consider three factors: the Can-Am model, their child’s weight and their child’s riding experience. For the Can-Am DS-250, for example, riders should be 14 and up, whereas Can-Am EFI models are recommended for children between ages 6 and 10 or up.
Regarding weight, the maximum an ATV meant for children should carry is 150 lb. It is important to remember that these vehicles are built strictly for children. Furthermore, parents should consider their child’s experience with such vehicles before buying them a Can-Am. You can always ask your dealer about training courses for children.
Each Can-Am Youth ride has a different speed limit. The Can-Am DS-250 speed goes up to 61 km/h (38 mph) and has shiftless CVT transmission and a liquid-cooled 250 cc engine. The DS-250 has more power and goes faster in comparison to the Renegade models.
The Can-Am Renegade EFI is a safe way to start riding. The built-in throttle limiter on this ATV keeps the rider’s speed under control. The Can-Am Renegade 110 EFI and X XC 110 EFI go up to 48 km/h (30 mph), while the Renegade 70 EFI goes up to 24 km/h (15 mph).
Although children are not required to have a license to start riding, it is highly recommended that they never ride without adult supervision. Furthermore, it’s important that the supervising adult review and explain the content of this operator’s guide to the young rider; this will make it not only safer for the child to ride the Can-Am vehicle but also more fun.
*Make sure to always check your local laws and regulations and comply with them. Laws and riding regulations may vary depending on your location.
Yes, all units must be registered with BRP. Each vehicle has a unique VIN (vehicle identification number), which can be used to trace the vehicle in the event of a safety recall, non-compliance or warranty.
Laws and regulations may vary from region to region; make sure to always check your local laws and regulations and comply with them. Furthermore, parents should observe the following best practices for safety purposes:
A) Children should only ride under adult supervision.
B) Children’s vehicles must never go on public footpaths.
C) Children (and adults) must always wear DOT-certified helmets, safety goggles, long clothing, closed shoes, gloves and other appropriate gear.
