Based in Utah, Tread Lightly! is a nonprofit organization that leads an initiative to promote responsible riding, balancing off-road riders’ need for adventure with environmental conservation and protection.

Responsible riding is our cause

Responsible riding is in our DNA. Our passion for trail adventures was always tied to making the off-road a better place for all riders while considering environmental protection.

That is why Can-Am partnered with Tread Lightly! Our mission is to protect motorized trail access and public lands through stewardship projects and responsible recreation education. Can-Am’s partnership has funded Tread Lightly! trail improvement projects throughout the United States. In addition to the projects, Can-Am has donated Can-Am Defender Side-by-Side units to assist in future off-road trail maintenance projects.

Halfway Stage Station, Utah

Fence replacement to protect the land

The historic Halfway Stage Station served travelers in the late 19th century. Can-Am and Tread Lightly! joined forces to protect the area with a new fence due to its historical value and to keep the local trails open for motorized recreation.

Parker, Arizona

Cleanup project of an off-road trail area

In partnership with Can-Am, Tread Lightly! ambassador and off-road racing veteran Sara Price met with six volunteers. Together, they removed over 7,800 lb of waste from the desert areas and off-road trails, almost 1,300 lb per person.

Salmon-Challis Forest, Idaho

Construction of the HWY 21 Connector Trail

The Salmon-Challis National Forest is located in Idaho along its border with Montana and offers many miles of off-road trails. The construction of the Highway 21 Connector Trail will help to maintain the forest and the areas for Off-Road Livin’.
