What do women wear for their first Off-Road ride?

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a new member of the Can-Am family, wearing the right head-to-toe protection is key to maxing out your enjoyment outdoors. Beyond staying safe, all women riders should feel comfortable on every adventure and look great while doing it! So today, we’re getting into must-have items for every type of off-road ride.

HELMET

We’ll start at the top with a good-fitting helmet. The right off-road helmet for women should be snug yet comfortable, with a lightweight design that doesn’t compromise on safety. The Pyra checks every box, and unlike a souped-up heavier helmet, it won’t give you neck fatigue by the end of your day.

Underneath your helmet, we always suggest braiding your hair or pulling it back in a headband or neck tube. That way, it won’t get windswept or matted while you ride.

GOGGLES

Maintaining a crystal-clear field of view and protecting your eyes while off-roading is a must, especially while tackling tough terrain. That’s why it’s important to wear a sturdy, dependable set of goggles with a motocross-style helmet. What’s more, we recommend trying on your goggles with your helmet before you buy a pair; every face shape is different and you don’t want your goggles to be too big or small for your frame.

GLOVES

Whether you’re holding on to handlebars or a steering wheel, a comfortable pair of gloves will protect your hands from the harsh elements and provide extra grip. Always look for adjustable elements at the wrist so you can get a snug and comfortable fit. That’s one great way to maximize your fun!

PANTS

You also want to wear a pair of sturdy pants — like some comfortable jeans — and closed-toed shoes (ideally over ankle boots) when you ride. Rocks, mud, and debris can occasionally kick up near your feet.

TOPS

As always, making sure you stay covered is important. That’s why we recommend wearing a long-sleeve shirt, like the Tetra jersey, which protects you from the elements and wicks moisture. A jersey that is designed specifically for women will fit your hips best, and you can wear it comfortably with just a sports bra underneath.

RAIN GEAR

Finally, you never want to leave without an emergency rain kit. The mud jacket and pants are an absolute must, because even if the forecast looks great when you leave, the weather can change faster than you think — and nobody likes to end the day soaked or covered in mud.

With the right off-road gear for women, you’ll be protected from head to toe as you chase thrills around every aggressive turn, which is the key to all-day comfort and fun!
