Understanding the charging requirements

In North America, Can-Am electric motorcycles are compatible with both Level 1 and Level 2 charging systems.

Level 1 Charging

Level 1 charging uses a standard AC household outlet (120V) offers a simple, convenient way to charge your electric motorcycle almost anywhere. It’s the same type of outlet you use for everyday items like your phone, lamp, etc.

Simply connect a dedicated charging cable - such as the one offered by Can‑Am - to a wall outlet and your motorcycle to gradually recharge the battery. While Level 1 charging takes longer, the slower pace is gentler on the battery, helping support long‑term performance and reliability.

Level 1 charging is slower and takes around 3 hours and 10 minutes to charge from 20-80% or around 5 hours and 15 minutes to charge from 0-100%.

Level 2 Charging

Level 2 charging offers significantly faster charging speeds. This system uses the same type of charger commonly found with electric cars and operates on a 240V specialized outlet, allowing you to recharge your battery more quickly and get back on the road sooner.

On a Level 2 charging outlet the time to charge significantly reduces to 50 minutes for a 20-80% charge and 90 minutes for 0-100%.

Level 3 Charging

It's important to note that the Pulse and the Origin vehicles are not compatible with Level 3 charging, like Tesla charging stations.

Where to charge your motorcycle

Public charging networks make long and adventurous trips easier than ever for electric motorcycle riders. With thousands of charging stations across North America, it’s simple to top up your battery while on the road and keep exploring without stress.

Popular platforms like PlugShare and ChargePoint offer interactive maps that help you locate nearby charging stations, plan travel routes, and schedule charging stops with confidence. Most public charging locations use Level 2 chargers, delivering faster recharge times compared to a standard household outlet.

Before plugging in, simply confirm that the station’s connector matches your motorcycle. The Can‑Am Pulse and Origin use the J‑1772 connector, which is widely supported across public charging networks.

⚠️Other connector types—such as CCS/SAE, CHAdeMO, or NACS—are not compatible.

Charging at Home: Simple and Convenient

While some potential EV owners worry about access to public charging stations, up to 90% of electric vehicle charging is actually done at home overnight, which is convenient, practical and cost-effective.

There are two different home charging options available for electric motorcycle owners :

• You can use a standard wall outlet for Level 1 charging
• You can install a dedicated Level 2 charging outlet for faster charging. We recommend hiring an electrician for the installation.

To optimize home charging in general, consider plugging in during off-peak hours to save on electricity costs and reduce grid strain. Investing in smart charging solutions can help manage and monitor your charging sessions more effectively

Maximize charging efficiency

💡We recommend to keep a charging level between 20-80%.

It is the most efficient and quickest way for battery cells to absorb energy, whether it's for a phone, laptop, or any other device.

Above 80%, charging slows down because the system reduces the rate to protect and balance the cells. Staying within this range also helps maintain long‑term battery health.

Your Path to a Better, Longer‑Lasting Electric Ride

Understanding your Can-Am electric motorcycle's charging needs and capacity is key to getting the best performance and extending battery life.

At Can‑Am, we’re committed to delivering innovative solutions for riders. That commitment—shaped by decades of experience—comes through in the advanced charging systems and rider‑focused design of the Origin and Pulse models.
